Pierre Schwarzer is a PhD Candidate at New York University’s Department of French Literature, Thought, and Culture. He has been visiting Columbia’s Center for Comparative Media this academic year. His research examines the concept of the substitute in recent French philosophy with regards to questions of technics and the digital. Pierre’s poetic practice has grown alongside his training in philosophy in Berlin and New York. He is currently working on a book project for a series of prose poems always composed of two parts, stretching from 2020 into now, drawing on questions of the fragment, punctuation, memory, and dust.
Born and raised in Singapore, Nora is currently a PhD candidate in the political science department. She primarily writes in English, but is trying to introduce more Chinese and Bahasa Melayu into her poetry.
Luca Abbattista is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Italian at Columbia University. In the 2018 his masters thesis entitled "Gli autori francesi nel «Candido» di Leonardo Sciascia," has been shortlisted for the Giovanni Testori Prize. In 2019 he became a recipient of a Fulbright grant.
He has published articles in "Lettera Zero" on contemporary Italian literature and short stories in "L'irrequieto." His interests include Modern and Contemporary Italian literature, French libertine novels, Freudian theories of literature, Ignacio Matte Blanco.
Giovanni Lovisetto was born in Florence (Italy). He is a poet and an archaeologist.
Some of his poems have been featured in international poetry magazines such the Italian Poetry Review. His first collection of poems, titled Scavi Urbani (Urban Excavations) has been published in Italy in June 2021 by Transeuropa Editore. He is currently working on a project featuring Italian translations of contemporary American poets. His next project deals with bodies, ghosts, and poetry as an anti-capitalistic practice.
He earned a B.A. in Classics and an M.A. in Classical Archaeology from the University of Pisa, where he was also a student at the Scuola Normale Superiore. Giovanni is currently enrolled as a PhD candidate in the Classical Studies program at Columbia University in the City of New York. His academic work focuses on body modifications in the ancient world.
Alina (Lingsi) Kong is a master's student in Italian at Columbia University. She writes poetry to capture and express feelings. Her interests include modern poetry and traditional Chinese poetry. She writes poetry in English, Chinese and Italian.
